Flexbus will follow dial-a-bus in the Westhoek: ‘until 2 am’

From 6 January 2024, transport company De Lijn will deploy up to 24 smaller private vehicles every day, with the well-known house style. The number varies with the hour of the day.

The flex vehicle does not make a fixed round, but picks up the travelers at a stop near their point of departure and takes them to the fixed bus line or to the nearest destination stop. It is the successor to the current dial-a-bus.

Later hours

The availability of the service is also being significantly expanded. Those who still go to a restaurant in the evening can still get home with the flex bus. For example, you will be able to use it during the week from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m.

On Saturday and Sunday, the flex bus runs from 8 or 9 am. On Friday evening and Saturday evening it continues until 2 am.

Shared mobility

You will pay the same amount for flex transport as for De Lijn. Just like with the dial-a-bus, you must book in advance.

Flex transport is provided in Alveringem, De Panne, Diksmuide, Heuvelland, Houthulst, Ypres, Koekelare, Kortemark, Langemark-Poelkapelle, Lo-Reninge, Messines, Poperinge, Veurne, Vleteren and Zonnebeke.

In the first three months of next year, shared bicycles and shared cars will also be available in the Westhoek if the flex bus is not accessible. A budget of 452,000 euros has been rolled out for this.
