Flemish testifies about draconian lockdown Shanghai: “The building guard won’t let you out” | Coronavirus

In China’s largest city, Shanghai, two weeks of strict lockdown are taking their toll. To contain the new Covid outbreak, people are not allowed to leave their homes under any circumstances, not even to get food. If they test positive, they are sometimes locked up for weeks in a large room, which they are only allowed to leave if they test negative. Even children are separated from their parents, and that leads to resentment. Wendy Saunders, a Flemish woman, has lived there for almost 20 years, and bears witness to what the Chinese lockdown means.
