2020 was not a farming year for the Flemish specialized dairy, beef, pig and laying poultry farms. They saw their profits drop well below zero. Pig farming was the worst, with an average loss of more than 58,000 euros. Only the poultry slaughter sector recorded a positive net operating result, although those companies have to make do with a lot less profits. This is shown on Thursday from figures from Statistics Flanders, based on data from the Department of Agriculture and Fisheries.
