In 2023, the Ministers of Health decided to provide co-financing for the recognized centers. From this year onwards, Flanders will award subsidies that serve as an intervention for operating costs and certain wage costs. The operating funds are intended, among other things, for wage costs for non-medical/support staff, consumables and energy costs. Healthcare costs are partly financed by the federal government.
In concrete terms, this concerns fifteen centers for recovery accommodation in Flanders with 833 recognized places of residence. An amount of 1,260 euros per year is invested per recognized location. In West Flanders there are three centers: Duneroze in De Haan, Ter Duinen in Nieuwpoort and Koninklijke Villa in Ostend.
