Flemish government gives civil servants 2 days of bereavement leave after ‘early’ miscarriage: “This is how the government sets the tone for society”

In the event of pregnancy loss under 24 weeks, employees of the Flemish and local governments will soon be given two days of bereavement leave. The Flemish government decided this at the request of Gwendolyn Rutten, Minister of Equal Opportunities and Administrative Affairs. This arrangement already exists only in New Zealand. Rutten calls on other governments and the private sector to follow her example.
