married at first sightMartijn and Nicole, the most talked about couple from the RTL 4 hit Married at First Sight, is officially divorced. According to biologist Patrick van Veen, ‘almost a kind of competition’ has developed between the two at breakneck speed.
In the brief history of the new season of MAFS it became more than clear that Martijn (50) and Nicole (47) are not a match. Their honeymoon to romantic Puglia was instead of cuddling full of quarreland so a divorce was inevitable.
Nevertheless, Nicole was reasonably relaxed tonight on Carlo Boszhard’s velvet love bench. “There have been people who were here with a certain tension. I’m not sitting here with a tense feeling.” Martijn enjoyed ‘seeing her again’.
But soon there is little left of the ‘friendly’ atmosphere. When Carlo asks Martijn if Nicole was interested in his family, he does not answer in the affirmative. ,,To a certain extent yes.” Nicole bites off. “Why to some extent? I immediately asked about it at the wedding. I have had app contact with his daughter. I think I know everything about his exes, about the mothers of your children. I certainly didn’t just talk about myself.”
Miscommunication
According to Carlo, miscommunication is the reason for this situation. Nicole summarizes: ,,We went swimming after breakfast. There were zero irritations. Not that I knew. While swimming I felt a distance. Then he said: I’m done, I’m done.”
According to expert Patrick van Veen, both candidates want to ‘be seen’. Something that Martijn emphasizes in his parting words. “Actually, it was always about you. Hence, I indicated on time, I suffer from the ‘one-way traffic’. Unfortunately, together we were not able to understand each other better. Unfortunately, I continue as a single, divorced man. Shame, but I’d like to keep you as a friend.”
Nicole needs a sip of water to recover and says that her ‘heart is in her throat’. ,,That you immediately threw in the towel on the very first day hurt me enormously. I will never understand how you can get into this experiment and then give up after 24 hours.”
With the flash divorce, the love experiment comes to an accelerated end. Tomorrow the team of experts will introduce a bonus couple, Patricia and Stephen, who were previously told they were not selected. It remains to be seen whether that yes will be a success.
