The first contact was made about four days ago. Yesterday Denso Kasius flew to Northern Italy to sign a 4.5 year contract with Bologna and today he was back in the Netherlands. Tomorrow the right back will say goodbye to his teammates at FC Volendam. “This is just a childhood dream.”
“When we had a zoom meeting with Bologna about three or four days ago, I didn’t know it would be so serious so soon,” says the only 19-year-old football player who was hired by FC Volendam from FC Utrecht. “They wanted me to come to Italy as soon as possible. They had already agreed with Utrecht. It was only about what I thought of it.”
“You may only get a chance like this once in your life”
“My feeling was good,” continues Kasius. “Of course it was exciting when I got off the plane there. We arranged everything quickly. It’s sour for Volendam, because you are participating for the championship, but you may only get a chance like this once in your life. That’s why I thought it was.” I had to get him.”
The number thirteen of the series A reportedly counts three million euros for Kasius. An amount that, according to unconfirmed reports, could reach four million. FC Volendam will receive ‘compensation’ according to technical director Jasper van Leeuwen. Van Leeuwen makes no announcements about the amount, except that it is less than ten percent of the lump sum.
“If such an amount is paid for you, there is confidence in that”
“When such an amount is deposited for you, it shows confidence,” says Kasius. “It is a childhood dream to play football abroad and earn money. It is true that I did not know much about Bologna. They have a nice training complex and a large stadium. They had a good plan for me. I will be a real one there wing back.”
Compatriots Mitchell Dijks (ex-Ajax) and Jerdy Schouten (ex-Telstar) also play for Bologna. “I spoke to Jerdy at the club and we met Dijks by chance when we went out for dinner. They were both very positive.”
Bayern Munich
At the very last minute, Bayern Munich would have made a final attempt to sign Kasius. It is unknown to him that a private jet would be ready to fly the footballer to southern Germany. “I don’t think it was very serious. I heard that they already have five right backs at the first and three at Jong. Then you become ninth right back at Bayern. I don’t know if that makes you happy.”
Kasius played 35 games for FC Volendam in which he scored 6 goals. He did not play in the first for FC Utrecht. Tomorrow Kasius will say goodbye to FC Volendam.
