The Flemish government wants to send the convocation card for the car inspection itself from 2022 to give motorists more time to make an appointment. This is apparent from the answer given by Minister of Mobility Lydia Peeters (Open Vld) to a parliamentary question from Joke Schauvliege (CD&V).
According to Schauvliege, there is currently too little time between receiving the convocation card and the expiry date of the inspection certificate. The green card reminds motorists that their proof will expire four weeks later, but at many busy car inspection centers, which have been working with a time lock since the corona wave, it is no longer possible to make an appointment in time.
“So what it comes down to is that drivers who cannot make an appointment in time have to pay a surcharge in any case and that they also run the risk of being fined because they drive around with an unapproved car,” Schauvliege said. a press release.
At the request of the Member of Parliament, Minister Peeters now indicates that she wants to have the convocation letters sent in the course of 2022 without the intervention of the federal government and earlier.
