Tadej Pogacar underlined in an impressive way that he is the best cyclist in the world. The Slovenian won on his own on the Tour of Flanders.

19 kilometers before the finish, Pogacar put the decisive attack and set off from a top five group. The defending champion Mathieu van der Poel, who, however, was without a chance against the Fast Alles winner of the past year on Sunday (April 6th, 2025). Mads Pedersen finished second, Van der Poel completed the podium behind it. Van Aert was fourth (all +1: 01 minutes).

“I couldn’t be proud of the team as we drove today. I am so happy to win in this jersey. The goal was the victory, but in the end it is difficult to realize all of this”said Pogacar, who, among other things, did valuable helper services again. VAE team boss Mauro Gianetti raved: “It was an incredible show. Everyone was very strong. Tadej delivered an incredible performance. It was an important victory and a big show for cycling.”

John Degenkolb has to end races after falling

Shortly after the first half of the 269 -kilometer classic by Bruges and Oudenaarde, there was a mass fall, in which Van der Poel and John Degenkolb were also involved. While van der Poel continued and catching up to the field again, Degenkolb tried to continue the race, it had to end it quickly.

The 36-year-old gave up what effects the one on the Paris-Roubaix race next Sunday (April 13, 2025) is open. There it comes to the next duel between Pogacar and van der Poel.
