On 1 January 2021, Flanders still had about 5,000 charging points.
“That means that we have tripled in Flanders in two years’ time,” says Minister Peeters. “By providing sufficient charging infrastructure, we want to increase driver comfort. It is my ambition to ensure the accelerated development of charging points in Flanders. By 2025, the counter in Flanders will be at least 35,000 charging equivalents and we will have every 25 km (ultra) fast charging infrastructure along the highways and major traffic axes.”
The Flemish government wants to achieve this objective by, among other things, calling for projects for semi-public charging infrastructure. A second call should yield about 10,000 charging points. Charging points from the first call will become operational in 2023. “In addition, we are also aiming for 10,000 additional public charging points in the next two years,” said the Open Vld minister.
