FKA Twigs Releases New Song “Killer”

Describing the music of FKA Twigs is not easy. She moves somewhere between electronic music and trip hop, between R&B and avant-garde. A non-conformism reminiscent of Kate Bush. With the release of the mixtape CAPRISONGS in January 2022, the 34-year-old took a different direction for the first time. She devoted herself to more radio-friendly music with a pinch of art-pop.

Now FKA TWIGS is back with the song “Killers”. She had already performed the song during the “Tiny Desk” concerts on June 10, and the official studio version has now been released. Killers is produced by Coffer and El Guincho – the latter a regular collaborator with Spanish superstar Rosalia. Check it out for yourself.

FKA Twigs also released a statement about their song. “It’s dangerous to be a woman in love,” she wrote. A broken heart can determine one’s own path much more than love itself. That’s what the song “Killer” is about.

“The death of promises, dreams, and the future once promised” is a central theme. But FKA Twigs also wants to show the positive sides. “Like the wildest picked roses, I find myself more beautiful, tenderly withered (…)” Here is the statement.

“It’s dangerous to be a woman in love” — when at its worst the effects of heart break can define one’s trajectory much more than the beauty of the love itself, in my song “Killer” I explore this concept. The navigation, the hunt and the kill. The death of promises, dreams and the future that was once promised. But like the wildest plucked roses, I find myself more beautiful delicately wilted, in shadow, forced solace, darkened at the edges, and achingly thirsting to be tended to again.
