FKA twigs will now add a 17-track mixtape entitled CAPRISONGS to their previously released Tears in the Club (with The Weeknd).
The singer describes the project in a press release as, among other things, “a meeting with friends at the airport, just being together.” It is also influenced by the worlds in which they live: London, Hackney, Los Angeles, New York City and Jamaica.
CAPRISONGS is “a journey back to myself through collaborations with great artists and friends”. Accordingly, the record features features with artists such as Jorja Smith (“darjeeling”), Daniel Caesar (“careless”) or Shygirl (“papi bones”), as well as the previously released single “Tears in the Club” with The weekend
CAPRISONGS was created in quarantine
FKA twigs first mentioned the work on the album last October. In an interview for the Grammy Museum, she revealed that the entire album was produced in corona quarantine with El Guincho via FaceTime. She received support from producers such as Mike, Cirkut and Warren Ellis, among others.
CAPRISONGS follows the album MAGDALENE, which was released in 2019. In addition to the aforementioned collaboration with The Weeknd, FKA Twigs recently appeared with the single “Measure of a Man”. The song, a collaboration with Central Cee, was featured on the soundtrack for the comic book adaptation The King’s Man.
