Fjällräven and Specialized call for a discovery tour

The Swedish outdoor label Fjällräven has collaborated with the Californian bike clothing manufacturer Specialized. The two brands describe the collaboration as an “exchange” of ideas and culture, combining Fjällräven’s sense of timeless design and functionality with Specialized’s high-performance approach.

The collaboration calls for exploring ‘The Great Nearby’. In the joint statement, the two companies appeal that experiencing great outdoors doesn’t require long-term planning or distant travel destinations, but can be found “on the outskirts of town or just around the corner” and is often no further than a bike ride away. “It is vital that people move closer to nature, rather than distanced from it – that they recognize and appreciate the world’s ecosystems, climate and delicate balance,” says Fjällräven’s creative director Henrik Andersson.

The joint collection includes an anorak in two colors, various T-shirts, but also accessories such as hats, a pair of socks and a scarf. The highlight of the collaboration is a bicycle bag system – called The Cool Cave System – which consists of a tote bag, a backpack and a saddle bag made of a water-repellent material with a cover. “We don’t tell anyone exactly how and what to bring, we allow them to bring everything and a little bit more depending on their needs,” says Erik Nohlin, Industrial Design Leader at Specialized.
