Youngest RB debutant leaves
Greuther Fürth has announced the signing of midfielder Sidney Raebiger (17) from RB Leipzig. According to official information from the Bundesliga relegated team, the top talent signed a contract until at least 2025. At the time of the announcement, there was no reliable information about the fee for the U17 international. However, the “Red Bulls” should be involved in a resale – the “Bild” had previously reported on this. The 17-year-old’s contract with Leipzig was valid until 2024.
Fürth’s sports director Rachid Azzouzi said: “We are very pleased that one of the greatest young German talents has made a conscious decision to join the game association. Sidney certainly had many options, but his decision particularly underscores the reputation we have earned with our Fürth path and the prospects we offer.”

After convincing training appearances, Raebiger was promoted to the Leipzig professional squad last summer and played two competitive games for the Saxons. With his first game in the DFB Cup in August 2021, the Freiberg native became the youngest player in the history of the “Red Bulls” and the fourth youngest in the history of the Bundesliga at the age of 16 years, three months and 21 days. While Raebiger was only rarely called up to the squad in Leipzig as a result, he should now get the chance in Fürth to gain match practice and develop further.
Raebiger, who made his way to the training camp in Saalfelden immediately after signing, said: “Those responsible in Fürth made a great deal of effort to get me and I’m convinced that switching to Kleeblatt is the right decision for me. I’m looking forward to joining the team tonight and then getting to know everyone.”
