Benjamin Sesko will be the 19th transfer from Red Bull Salzburg to RB Leipzig. As both clubs confirmed on Tuesday, the center forward will move to the Saxons next summer, where he will sign a five-year contract. This season he will still play for the Austrian top club, for which the 19-year-old has been directly involved in 20 goals in 39 games.
The Slovenian is celebrated in Austria as the successor to Erling Haaland and is just as popular as the Norwegian when he left in winter 2020. Sesko is the 19th transfer from Salzburg to Leipzig since 2012, Dominik Szoboszlai most recently came to Germany from the sister club in winter 2021 for 22 million euros. In his first full season, Sesko had ten goals and seven assists in 36 games last year, taking his market value to €10m. This season there are two goals and one assist after four appearances.
