Midfielder Suat Serdar leaves Hertha BSC for Italy.

The 26-year-old will be loaned to Serie A club Hellas Verona for one season, as the second division soccer club announced on Tuesday evening.

Verona is also said to have secured a purchase option of five million euros, according to media reports. The club itself spoke only of option rights. Hertha did not provide any information.

This should save the clammy Berliners another comparatively high salary and perhaps open up some leeway on the transfer market. The midfielder had only played one competitive game this season due to injury problems.

Serdar moved from FC Schalke 04 to Berlin in the summer of 2021. Like the rest of the team, he was rarely able to constantly call up his potential.
