Fix! Defender leaves FC Bayern after just one year

Defender Omar Richards is leaving FC Bayern Munich after just one season. The German record champions confirmed the transfer of the 24-year-old to Nottingham Forest on Sunday.

Omar Richards is leaving FC Bayern again. The left-back has joined Premier League promoted Nottingham Forest with immediate effect.

Neither club made any statements about the amount of the transfer fee, according to media reports it is up to ten million euros. Bayern Munich signed Richards on a free transfer from second division club Reading last summer. Under coach Julian Nagelsmann he made 17 competitive appearances.

Richards has now signed a contract with the two-time European champions until 2026.

“It was Omar’s wish that we enable him to move to Nottingham Forest,” said Bayern sports director Hasan Salihamidzic on the transfer: “He sees the opportunity to become a regular in his home country at a Premier League club. Nottingham gets a very good player and wonderful boy who will make his way.”

Omar Richards is looking forward to returning to England

Omar Richards, meanwhile, was thrilled to be able to take off with the promoted team. “I am delighted to be returning to England and joining Nottingham Forest at such an exciting time,” the former England Under-21 international was quoted as saying by Nottingham Forest in a statement. “The club have had an incredible few months and have big ambitions after returning to the Premier League.”

Richards knows the Reds well from his time at Reading FC. “They have amazing support from the fans, the stadium that I can now call my new home is incredible. I can’t wait to meet the team and start preparing for the new season.”
