Five times World Cup gold for the German para team

The German para-cycling team successfully continued its gold hunt at the World Championships in Baie-Comeau, Canada. After Angelika Dreock-Käser and Annika Zeyen, Michael Teuber, Maike Hausberger and Kerstin Brachtendorf also won titles for the German Disabled Sports Association (DBS) team. There was also silver for Maximilian Jäger and bronze for Jana Majunke.

Tricycle rider Dreock-Käser successfully defended her time trial title. In the T2 starting class, the 55-year-old secured victory after 18.9 kilometers. “The race went perfectly for me. I’m overjoyed,” said Dreock-Käser.

Zeyen won the individual time trial with the hand bike. “This is my first time trial world title, it feels great,” said the 37-year-old. Acting national coach Renee Schmidt was also satisfied: “The performances were very convincing. All in all, I’m very happy with the start.”

Teuber (C1), Hausberger (C2) and Brachtendorf (C5) each won the time trial on Friday. “I’ve experienced a lot in my career, but after a four-year break and being time trial world champion again at my age, that’s very special for me,” said five-time Paralympic winner Teuber (54).

The German team is represented at the World Championships with 14 athletes, including three handbikers, four three-wheelers and seven two-wheelers.
