Five times more families affected by Ventilus
This is evident from a reply from Flemish Minister of Energy Zuhal Demir to Flemish Member of Parliament Carmen Ryheul.
Flemish Minister of Energy Zuhal Demir: “This concerns the parts of Bruges, Zedelgem, Izegem and Avelgem. There are already 960 homes and 80 companies there today at a distance of 100 meters from the existing high-voltage line. If the perimeter is expanded to 200 meters, that means 2,100 homes and 130 companies that already see a high-voltage line in the landscape today.”
When Ventilus chose the route at the end of March, the Flemish government still spoke of 190 affected families within a radius of 100 meters for the existing overhead high-voltage line. Now it would concern almost 1,000 families and 80 companies. Within a radius of 200 meters, the number of families doubles. There is also still a lot of uncertainty about the compensation scheme.
