Five suspects to criminal court for riots on Blankenberge beach
According to the Bruges department of the West Flanders public prosecutor’s office, the suspects were involved in the riots on the beach of Blankenberge in the summer of 2020.
Three amok makers were arrested on the spot and subsequently arrested by the investigating judge. Thanks to further investigation, other suspects were later identified. In the end, the public prosecutor’s office decided to request the referral to the Bruges criminal court for five adult suspects. The council chamber followed the prosecutor’s claim on Wednesday morning and referred the five young people from Brussels to the criminal court.
The trial against the rioters will be initiated in a few weeks at the earliest.
