“Five kilometers is too long”

Eveliina Piippo was so exhausted after her relay that she could no longer stay on her pole in the transition area.

– Apparently five kilometers is too long for me. The three kilsa went well, Eveliina Piippo comment on your performance after the message.

– It was quite heavy towards the end, the woman continued.

Even though Piippo froze at the end of his leg, it’s pointless to put fourth place in his shoes. Piippo skied at his own level, and Finland was not even expected to win a medal.

The message was the 24-year-old Piipo’s third trip to the World Championships. He was 15th in the combined race and 16th in the freestyle.

– Expectations were higher. However, I have given my all in every race. You have to be satisfied with that. And if you look at the level I was at a year ago, I’ve moved forward here, Piippo analysed.

“I gave it my all”

The bronze medal escaped from Finland only at the end of the anchor leg, while Sweden’s Maja Dahlqvist the nest Krista Pärmäkoski in the final stretch and lifted the blue-yellows to the ball.

– If someone has to decide on those anchors, I would have hoped that it would have been someone other than Dahlqvist. He was in it, Pärmäkoski lamented.

The Finn knew that he shouldn’t leave it to the end.

– I tried to solve it on the way, but I couldn’t get him to drop. I knew that Maja was really tough at the end. I think I gave my all to the climbs, Pärmäkoski continued.

He struck at just the right time, but this time it wasn’t enough.

– I think he (Dahlqvist) was already looking at the heart rate monitor during the ascent. I knew that now I just had to strike. I tried to resolve the rise, but I didn’t get enough separation.
