Local police officers rushed to St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa after being called about an “active shooter situation”, where an armed man was said to be walking through the hospital’s corridors. When the officers arrived on the scene, they found that several people had been shot. “At that point, some of them were already dead,” Police Chief Richard Meulenberg told ABC News. The officers assumed that one of the dead was the shooter, “because he had a long rifle and a pistol with him,” Meulenberg said.
The suspect has not yet been identified. His age is estimated between 35 and 40 years. The dead include hospital workers and patients, police said.

Last Tuesday, an 18-year-old opened fire at an elementary school in Uvalde, Texas. The gunman holed up in a classroom and killed 19 children and two teachers before being shot and killed by police themselves.
A few days earlier, a gunman opened fire at a grocery store in Buffalo, New York, killing ten people and injuring three others.
