The police have launched an investigation after the death of five cats around the Oeverwal in Hoogwoud. It is unclear what caused the cats to die, but the vet and animal police believe the cats may have ingested a poisonous substance.
The five cats died last week after suddenly becoming very ill. The police write facebook that it does not have to be intentional poisoning. “The cats could also have ingested any toxic substances in another way.”
For example, it could be a green deposit remover. This is used by people to remove green deposits from garden tiles, but is dangerous for cats.
