Five cars collided with each other on Thursday morning on the A27 from Utrecht to Breda. The accident happened near Werkendam, on the Merwede Bridge.
After the collision, the left lane of the A27 between Noordeloos and Werkendam was closed. This led to nine kilometers of traffic jams around 11 a.m., which resulted in a delay of more than an hour.

Several cars had to be recovered, a spokesperson for Rijkswaterstaat said. The closed lane was reopened at 11:15 a.m. “But the traffic jam is still very long, so a detour is recommended,” a spokesperson for the ANWB said. This is possible via Zaltbommel and Den Bosch via the A2 and A59.
