After five defeats at the start of the season, the FC Bayern Munich basketball team has clinched their first win in the Euroeague. Against the reigning champion Anadolu Efes Istanbul, the Munich team won on Thursday evening (November 3rd, 2022) in front of their home crowd with 81:78 (38:39).
The previous false start with five defeats was the team of coach Andrea Trinchieri not to be noted. Bayern were able to keep the game open and went into the break just one point behind (38:39/20th minute). However, the defense got the former Ulm professional Will Clyburn not under control. The 32-year-old American had 14 points after two quarters.
FC Bayern successfully countered Anadolu Efes
After the change of sides, the Turkish club briefly showed their strengths with the German center Tibor Pleiss and drew seven points ahead (48:55/25.). Bayern countered with a 10:1 run (59:56/28th) and went into the final round with a narrow 62:61.
The Munich built also thanks to a strong Cassius Winston the lead five minutes before the end to ten points (77:67). The incumbent champion but came back into the match and shortened it to 74:77 (36th), but Bayern let the premiere success in the Euroleague in an exciting final phase.
In addition to Winston (16 points), Isaac Bonga (12) and Elias Harris (10) were also noticeable in Munich. Pleiß scored six points with the guests.
