MVV surprised with a win in the away game at ADO Den Haag. After a 0-2 halftime score it became 2-3. The first win since Nov.
Finally three points for the team of trainer Klaas Wels. The MVV coach had more players at his disposal than in previous games. That gave MVV the first points after six lost games in the 3rd period. Thanks to Toshio Lake and defensively Matteo Waem.
MVV ahead
Toshio Lake was allowed to start in the striker, as was Elano Yegen, who was hired from The Hague. The 19-year-old started as a right-back. Captain Sven Blummel returned to the base after his absence last week against VVV-Venlo. In the initial phase, MVV had a good opportunity via Mart Remans, but his bow went over the goal. Remans opened the scoring in the 28th minute. A build-up over the left via Lars Schenk and Toshio Lake was effectively completed, 0-1.
Four minutes later, it was Toshio Lake who, after a one-two with Blummel, scored his first in Maastricht service, 0-2.
Peace
ADO had some small chances but they were unsuccessful. A free kick in the final phase of the first half and a shot by Ricardo Kishna provided the greatest threat. The adequate performance of goalkeeper Matthys and thoughtful intervention by Matteo Waem ensured that MVV went to rest with that 2-0 lead.
Goal
ADO trainer Ruud Brood had already intervened before half time and made his second substitution at the start of the 2nd half. That effect immediately took effect and via ‘ut Bies’, Thomas Verheydt scored for the home team. The ex-MVV’er made the 1-2 in the 46th minute with his head. It is already the 20th goal for Verheydt this season.
Toshio Lake
MVV answered quickly and after Remans went through well in the Hague sixteen, the ball came to Lake. With a punch he signed for the 1-3 (49′). For example, Toshio Lake was involved in all MVV goals. The first with an assist and then with two hits. The tired Mart Remans was replaced by Mitchy Ntelo.
Rush
ADO tried with all its might to pressure the MVV defense to keep. This resulted in a yellow print for Lars Schenk. Halfway through the first half, Nicky Souren was already booked and he is suspended for the upcoming home game against Jong AZ. MVV kept lurking on the counter. ADO was close to a goal via Verheydt (71′) but his header ended up in the hands of Matthys. In the 77th minute, the roles were reversed. Verheydt trumped Matthys in the air and substitute Marius van Mil scored the 2-3.
Marco Kleinen and Thomas van Bommel replaced the tired Nicky Souren and Saul Penders. The Hague stampede was continued and Klaas Wels had to bring in two more fresh forces in the 85th minute. Levi Malaungu replaced the injured Waem and Kai Bösing came in for Sven Blummel.
LAT
ADO almost equalized in the six minutes of extra time. Samy Bourard’s bet landed on the crossbar. But MVV could also have scored. Mitchy Ntelo missed in a one-on-one situation and so it ended with that surprising and deserved 2-3 win.
