First trailer of “Firestarter” is here

The novel “Feuerkind” by StephenKing was filmed in 1984 with Drew Barrymore in the leading role under the title “Fire Devil”. With “Firestarter” a new edition of the horror classic will soon be in the cinemas.

Stephen King’s works not only made him a luminary of horror in the literary field. The adaptations of his books are also always successful in the cinemas. With the success of the new editions of “ES” and “ES: Chapter 2” in recent years, a veritable new hype seems to be developing around the author’s stories. Almost 30 productions based on the literary material of the “Master of Horror” have been announced at the moment.

For lead actress Drew Barrymore, the 1980s adaptation Firestarter was her first starring role after her success with ET. Back then, however, Stephen King fans were not really satisfied with the film adaptation. This could change with the remake of the story. Here you can already see the trailer for the film:

The protagonist Charlie is played this time by Ryan Kiera Armstrong, who mimes the role of her father Andy Zac Efron. Charlie possesses pyrokinetic abilities, meaning she is able to ignite fire using just the power of her mind. Because of Charlie’s special gift, the two are mercilessly pursued by secret agents.

The secret organization “The Company” is also responsible for the death of Charlie’s mother. During her college days, Charlie’s parents were involved in a drug experiment that gave them telekinetic and telepathic abilities, though significantly less developed than their daughter Charlie. The duo are later caught up in the Organization’s clutches and separated, but Charlie continues to resist the experiments attempted to be performed on her.

The event will be produced by Blumhouse Productions, which has made horror films like “Halloween“, “Get Out” and “The Purge” were responsible. Horror fans can also look forward to the film because Keith Thomas, who recently caused a sensation with “The Vigil”, is directing and “Halloween Kills” author Scott Teens is taking over the screenplay.

“Firestarter” will be released in German cinemas on May 12th.
