First task force results: Employers are recruiting Klingel employees

After the announced closure of the mail order company Klingel by the end of January 2024, the so-called task force of the city of Pforzheim is reporting its first results. The city announced on Friday that 96 employers had already contacted the specially set up email address with a total of 167 vacancies for Klingel employees. Mayor Peter Boch (CDU) also referred to the preparation of a large job fair on October 21st and the total of 2,500 vacancies in the region reported to the local employment agency.

The bad news for the more than 1,300 remaining employees of K – Mail Order GmbH & Co. KG came at the end of August. According to the company, no investor could be found. “This decision was not easy for any of us, but unfortunately there is no alternative,” explained the management.

The head of the Nagold-Pforzheim employment agency, Martina Lehmann, also reported a good response to the eight placement offices set up at Klingel locations. The jobseeker registrations of the 500 employees who will be affected by the first wave of layoffs had already been successfully completed.

Klingel had already filed for self-administration insolvency proceedings in May – in the 100th year since its founding. The reasons given included the significant consumer restraint since the start of the war in Ukraine, significantly increased costs for catalog production and shipping, as well as a necessary change in IT systems in the second half of 2022.
