First sod in the fire station Lauwe-Marke

This afternoon the spade for the new fire station officially went into the ground. They moved the first earth at the Bramier industrial estate in Lauwe, but luckily the excavators will soon be arriving so that the Fluvia fire department can open a new barracks by March next year. The sustainable building, an investment of almost 2.8 million euros, is the new accommodation for the fifty men of Marke en Lauwe.

Sebastien Lefebvre, Fluvia Post Marke: “The fire stations were outdated anyway. Marke’s is forty years old and Lauwe’s is old too. They no longer meet today’s needs. So there was a need for a new station. merger and a new barracks, we are ready for the next thirty years.” (read more below the photo)

More decisive

The merger between the corps ensures more decisiveness. The new barracks will also house sports accommodation and classrooms. “We are also going to develop a specialization here for hazardous substances. We are specially equipped for this and have special material for this. If there are incidents with such substances, we will depart from here, from the Bramier barracks, to any area in the zone Fluvia to provide support in that area.”

Fluvia will have another ten neighbors in this SME zone, mainly companies from the construction sector. The site connects to a nature reserve of 5ha.
