First rehearsal at the Las Vegas Sphere “didn’t go very well”

Before their first show of the U2: UV Warning Baby Live at Sphere concert series, the band was a guest of CBS News’ Anthony Mason. In the interview, singer Bono said the first rehearsal was “terrible”. The first Las Vegas show takes place this Friday (September 29th). “It wasn’t that bad,” says guitarist The Edge. Discourse has always been very important in the U2 camp.

U2 are playing several shows through December 16th at “The Sphere,” a newly constructed, spherical concert hall with a programmed LED exterior consisting of more than 260 million video pixels.

“That was what we wanted as a band from the start. “Just breaking the fourth wall and reaching our audience,” Bono said of the “U2: UV Warning Baby Live at Sphere” series.

The first concerts will initially take place without their drummer Larry Mullen Jr., who is currently recovering from an operation. He will be replaced by the Dutchman Bram van den Berg. Bono told CBS News that Larry Mullen Jr. is feeling good so far, but he needs time to get fit again.

On September 29th, U2 released their new single “Atomic City”, inspired by Las Vegas, the city with which the band connects many of their career experiences.
