A case of polio has been identified in a patient in Rockland County, a New York suburb. This is reported by the New York State Department of Health. The CDC federal health service has confirmed the case. The last polio infection recorded in the US was in 2013. By then, the virus had spread outside the US. Now it is probably a local infection, the patient had not recently been abroad.
