Sotheby’s auction house is selling rare memorabilia related to the 1996 Las Vegas shooting Tupac Shakur put under the hammer. This includes a volume with haikus, i.e. short poems in the Japanese style, which the musician wrote at the age of eleven for his godfather, when he was in prison.
Tupac in love
The auction house also offers love letters that Shakur is said to have written at the age of 17 for his former love interest.
The online auction is estimated to fetch $300,000. Bids can be submitted until March 30th.
Three years ago, Tupac’s letter of separation was auctioned off Madonna had written. The rapper is said to have written the letter to the Queen of Pop in prison in January 1995.
Madonna desperately wanted a court case to keep the letter from going under the hammer, but lost. In July 2018, the singer requested that her personal belongings not be sold. However, a former friend had sold Tupac’s letter to an auction house.
