First on, now off: this is why the fountain on Promenadeplein doesn’t spray

It was a festive moment for the opening of the renovated Stadshart. The fountain on Promenadeplein was turned on on Monday 14 March at the push of a button. But then the jets of water disappeared, leaving an empty square. What’s up with that?

A number of children already had a lot of water fun between the spouting water jets. Staying completely dry was a challenge, but with the sunny spring weather, getting wet wasn’t a huge problem. Only the same day, after the solemn moment, the pipeline was closed again.

The fountain is not ready

We contacted Rotsvast Maatwerk: the company that installed the new water element. It appears that the fountain is not yet ready and therefore not yet officially completed. Before the official opening of the Stadshart, the fountain was switched on for a while, but then turned off again.

The season has yet to start

Due to a shortage of technical material and delivery problems due to corona, the work cannot now be continued. Rock solid Maatwerk is on top of it to get the right parts so that the fountain can start again. By the way, fountains don’t start until the first week of April. They go out again in December. So the season has yet to start.

In addition to the fountain, there will also be new benches on Promenadeplein.
