First night train to Schiphol with a stop in Assen in two weeks

The night train from Arriva to Schiphol, with a first stop in Assen, will run for the first time on 21 January. The weekly trip to the airport then departs at 01:48 from the main station in Groningen.

The night train then runs weekly in the night from Friday to Saturday. In addition to the stop in Assen, the train also calls at the stations of Zwolle, Lelystad, Almere and Amsterdam Zuid. Final destination Schiphol is reached at 03:50.

The train departs from the airport at 05:07 and arrives back in Groningen at 07:17. On the way there is another stop in Assen.

Arriva operates the journeys with trains that normally run between Emmen and Zwolle. These trains run electrically, unlike the trains that run in the Northern Netherlands. The public transport chip card is not valid on the night train. Travelers can buy a ticket for a fixed price of 10 euros via Arriva’s Glimble app.

Two security guards travel along on the night train from Groningen via Assen to Schiphol. The tickets are checked at the door.

Arriva has had a weekly night train from Maastricht to Schiphol since last month. In addition to the night trains, Arriva is also allowed to run five times a day between Apeldoorn and Amersfoort. With the three new services, the regional carrier hopes to undermine the monopoly of the NS.
