The futsal players of FC Marlène have won the first national title in history. The team of coach Dick van Stralen settled with ZVG in two games. The team also recently won the cup and with that the club from Heerhugowaard takes the double in futsal.
In the best-off-three series, FC Marlène knew that victory was enough to win the title. Last week, the team from North Holland won 2-3 against the number two from the regular season on a visit to Gorinchem. At home, the team started the game very nervous and therefore fell behind.
Towards the break, Amy Visser personally turned the game around by taking two hits: 2-1. After the break, FC Marlène continued and Visser was again accurate: 3-1. ZVG fought back in the battle with the tying goal. The visitors then went all or nothing with an extra field player. Visser made smart use of that in the counter and thus scored her fourth goal of the evening: 4-2.
FC Marlène will participate in European football next season as national champion of the Netherlands.
A report on the championship of FC Marlène will follow on NH Sport on Monday.
