Construction of the new modular hotel complex at the Tropical Islands swimming resort (Dahme-Spreewald) has begun.
“The first four modules have arrived and are now in the first assembly stage,” said a Tropical Islands spokesman on Tuesday morning. A total of around 150 modules are to be installed for the hotel. This would provide around 500 more sleeping options.
Ideally, the hotel should open in February, the spokesman said. With a total of 3,300 beds, the company will then be one of the largest overnight accommodation providers in Germany. In particular, guests from neighboring countries such as Poland, the Netherlands and Denmark are coming to the Tropical Islands more and more frequently. The new building takes this development into account, said the spokesman. The hotel complex is expected to cost around 25 million euros.
Around 550 employees currently work in the indoor resort, which is open all year round. On average, around 1.2 million visitors have been counted annually on the 640 hectare resort area in recent years.
