High-ranking visitors to the opening of the next fashion exhibition in the New York Metropolitan Museum: First Lady Jill Biden (70), wife of US President Joe Biden (79), will be the guest of honor at the opening of the show “In America: An Anthology of Fashion», announced the Museum in Central Park in Manhattan on Friday. She will give a short speech and then look at the fashion exhibition.
It was an “extraordinary honor and privilege” to welcome Biden to the Metropolitan Museum, said Austrian museum director Max Hollein. “We look forward to realizing together the powerful ways in which art can teach us about our past, connect us to the present, and inspire us to envision the future.”
With the help of around 100 items of clothing, the exhibition is intended to record the development of American fashion from the 19th to the 20th century. It is the second part of the show “In America: A Lexicon of Fashion”. The opening of the second part is also to be celebrated on Monday evening with the traditional star-studded Met Gala – an annual fundraiser for the Metropolitan Museum’s Costume Institute. The exhibition will then open its doors to all visitors on May 7th and, like the first part, will be on view until September 5th. (dpa)
