First infection with monkeypox virus detected in Belgium | Abroad

Since the beginning of this month, several dozen infections have already been reported in various European and North American countries. It is still unclear how the virus is suddenly spreading.

According to the National Institute for Public Health and the Environment (RIVM), no case has yet been identified in the Netherlands. People can suffer from fever, headache, muscle aches, swollen lymph nodes, chills and fatigue after being infected.
