The entire renovation is expected to be ready until 2027. To bridge the intervening period, the municipality makes temporary homes available at other locations.
On Sperwerstraat 6 and 21, emergency seekers can withdraw from next week. The status holders who lived there have moved to Robonsbosweg, and the Ukrainian refugees now live in the Wognemsebuurt.
There will also be flex homes on Jan de Heemstraat, in the building of the former night shelter of care organization Dnodoen. That location has been empty since the move to the Helderseweg and has been renovated in the meantime. The remaining 24 flex homes are placed on the Edisonweg, in the parking lot at the Letterbak.
Only in the case of acute emergency
To be eligible for a home, emergency seekers must meet certain conditions. For example, you have to live in Alkmaar for at least two years, and there must be an acute emergency situation. Think of a relationship break or divorce with children, domestic violence, imminent homelessness or dismissal from an institution without supervision to other accommodation.
The Flex homes are not a permanent solution: an emergency seeker can live there for a maximum of two years.
