‘First hiking shoe for women’s feet’

Adidas launches the ‘Terrex WMN Hiker Mid Rain.Rdy’ hiking shoe, which was developed on the basis of the female anatomy.

Adidas Terrex is launching the first hiking shoe that “was developed specifically for the female anatomy using biometric and experience-based data,” the sports goods manufacturer from Herzogenaurach announced on Thursday. For this purpose, Adidas – with the help of the footwear team and Munich Mountain Girls, one of the “biggest hiking community for women” in Europe – made 1000 scans of feet. During the development, it was then analyzed how the female foot when hiking hits the ground and what effect it has on the Achilles tendon.

“This allowed us to create a shoe that is exactly what women are looking for: a functional product that is comfortable, durable, protects the foot and also has a modern look with the Adidas Terrex design language,” said Rebecca MacKay, product manager at Adidas Terrex. “We hope this new range will help women around the world find their own connection to nature.”

A clothing line with various jackets, T-shirts and trousers was also developed to match the new shoes.

Adidas surveyed over 1,300 women between the ages of 18 and 35 in Germany, Great Britain and the USA. The study was conducted between April 30th and May 12th.
