First electronic registration for secondary education region Kortrijk – Harelbeke – Kuurne – Zwevegem turns out to be a success
Enrollment for mainstream secondary education in Kortrijk, Harelbeke, Kuurne and Zwevegem went through a digital registration system for the first time this year. All secondary schools in this region, across the networks, unanimously chose to use the same registration system. The criteria used were school preference in the first instance and ‘coincidence’ in the second instance. It is important to know that a child can only be assigned a school that the parents have chosen themselves.
More than 97% of the parents were assigned their first preferred school. Only a limited number of parents are not allocated a school. This is due to the fact that the maximum capacity of some schools has already been reached. There are enough free places for every child in regular secondary education in Kortrijk. These parents can certainly enroll in another school.
Cooperation
For the secondary education region of Kortrijk – Harelbeke – Kuurne – Zwevegem, it was quite a challenge to introduce registration for the first time. The schools are satisfied with how everything went. “The implementation went well thanks to strong cooperation between the city council, the local consultation platform, and all education partners.”
