First day of Festival Dranouter attracts 13,000 festival-goers

The opening day of Festival Dranouter took place on Thursday 4 August, this time in the renovated party zone. This is a second festival site, located next to the Camping Zone. Festival-goers can enjoy a fiery DJ program in the well-known Palace tent from afternoon to evening. The headliner of the Thursday evening was Preuteleute. Thursday evening was free for residents of Heuvelland, people with a 3-day ticket and people who could get one of the individual tickets.

Renewed festival site

On Friday, the large festival meadow in Dikkebusstraat opened, where festival-goers discovered a lot of novelties. The eye-catcher is no longer the blue Kayam as the main stage, but the white Chateau with a comfortable floor. Tent Cirque, with a line-up that builds up from modest singer-songwriters to party bands, is also there for the first time. The village-like character of the festival is enhanced by a new, thematic decoration in the center of the site.

“This year could really be a party edition for everyone”, according to festival director Bavo Vanden Broeck. “The entire team and all volunteers resolutely went for even more atmosphere and even more experience, including with an eye for theming. The result is impressive.”

Good luck with the weather

With an ideal 24°C, the terraces were pleasantly full from the start of the festival. “The weather couldn’t have been better. Not only today, but also for the rest of the festival weekend. Perfect to explore all the nooks and crannies of our renewed festival site and to catch the best concerts”, one of the participants said. many festival goers.

crowd pullers

On Saturday you can still look forward to the crowd puller Het Beste Van ‘t Westen, an all-stars project with Flip Kowlier, Brihang, Wannes Cappelle from Het Zesde Metaal, and Wim Opbrouck & Wim Willaert from De Dolfijntjes. This West Flemish collective will bring a few surprise special guests. Festival-goers of Dranouter will also witness the very last performance of SX, the Kortrijk pop noir band around Stefanie Callebaut and Benjamin Desmet.
