First day at Beijing Games without skating and short track speed skating

The Netherlands remains on Monday at the Olympic Games in Beijing on twelve medals won. There are no competitions on the program for both long track speed skating and short track speed skating.

TeamNL will not win a medal of honor in other sports either. Monobobster Karlien Sleper comes into action for her third and fourth run in Yanqing. After her first two runs on Sunday, she takes sixteenth place and a medal is already out of sight.

Snowboarders Melissa Peperkamp and Niek van der Velden hope to qualify for the finals in the big air section. Both Dutch athletes complete three qualifying runs. Peperkamp and Van der Velden failed to reach the slopestyle final earlier in the Olympic tournament.

For Ivo de Bruin, the Olympic Games start on Monday. The pilot and his inhibitor Jelen Franjic represent the Netherlands in the two-man bob.

The long track skaters will train on Monday. After disappointing performances in the quarter-finals of the team pursuits, they hope to do better in the semi-finals on Tuesday.
