The Italian luxury brand Marni and the streetwear brand Carhartt WIP (Work in Progress) have developed a joint collection for the first time. The collection, which consists of women’s and men’s ready-to-wear and accessories, interprets the workwear-inspired Carhartt WIP styles with the playful colors, prints and shapes of Marni.
Marni x Carhartt WIP includes new material combinations, all-over prints and generous volumes. A two-tone trefoil print is applied to Carhartt WIP archetypes such as the Active Jacket, a short-sleeved work shirt and work pants. Hats, chunky slip-on sneakers and a sturdy canvas tote bag also feature the same print. The tops combine the shape of a t-shirt with the silhouette of a basketball tank top. An interplay of corduroy and canvas can be found in a coat and an overshirt, which are refreshed by Marni’s sense of color. The bags feature a co-branded motif using a special single-thread embroidery technique.
The accompanying campaign stars funk musician Bootsy Collins – formerly of Parliament-Funkadelic. He is joined by his wife Patti, grandson Vincent and musician Babyxsosa at their home in Cincinnati. Marni x Carhartt WIP will celebrate their collaboration with a jam session at the Marni Montenapoleone flagship store during Milan Fashion Week, kicking off Marni Jam, a multi-disciplinary program set to expand globally.
The collection will be released in mid-January and will be available in the Marni web shop, in Marni stores and at selected multi-brand retailers around the world. At Carhartt WIP, the collab is available in flagship stores in New York, Paris Le Marais, Florence, London Soho, Antwerp, Berlin Mitte, Hong Kong, Taipei and Sydney.
