Bundesliga leaders Red Bull Munich suffered their first defeat in the Ice Hockey Champions League.
Head coach Don Jackson’s team lost to Tappara Tampere 3-4 (1-1, 1-0, 1-2, 0-1) after a penalty shoot-out on Matchday 5 at the Olympic Ice Stadium, but is still ahead in Group C their now tied conqueror. In another German-Finnish duel, EHC Wolfsburg clinched their third success with a 4-1 (1-0, 1-0, 2-1) win at TPS Turkku.
Andreas Eder, Julian Lutz and Ben Street scored the goals for Munich in front of 1750 spectators. In the penalty shoot-out, Lutz and Eder scored for Red Bull, the third successful shooter for the Finns was Niko Ojamäki. In Turkku, Valentino Klos, Dustin Jeffrey, Jordan Murray and Dominik Bittner were successful for the guests from Lower Saxony.
