First cancellation due to illness, then drama on site

Does he have powers of vision or have the last few months been eating away at his substance?

In any case, Till Lindemann canceled his solo appearance at the 2023 Blue Ridge Rock Festival at Virginia International Raceway shortly before kick-off. The original plan was for the Rammstein singer to headline the “Zyn Stage” with his solo crew on Friday evening (September 8th). The last act of the evening.

On Lindemann’s website it states soberly: “Due to illness, we unfortunately have to announce that Till Lindemann has to cancel his appearance. We will work with the festival to bring him back in 2024.”

Blue Ridge, in turn, had announced on social media that they were trying to fill the free time slot with another act. But no one could accept the short-term offer.

As a result, there were changes in the line up, especially the bands Sleep Token and Lorna Shore, who were among the fan favorites. There should be no overlaps here. “Sleep tokens have been moved to the main stage. “Both their set and Motionless in White’s performance have been slightly extended, with Motionless now performing later in the night,” US organizers said. “Based on the feedback from fans, we did our best to fulfill as many requests as possible despite the circumstances. We are not aware of any further cancellations from at least 154 bands and artists. We look forward to seeing you all again soon for a phenomenal rock & metal weekend!”

But everything was to turn out differently: capricious weather. Communication problems. Cancellation of the remaining program.

Countless fans complained on social media about chaotic logistics reminiscent of Woodstock in 1969 or even 1999.

Eternal waiting times for the shuttle buses. The journey to and from the festival site and the campsites is said to have taken several hours. There were also violent weather events. A storm damaged many tents. Some fans were literally “lost”.

Ultimately, the festival was canceled entirely due to the weather. For many it’s just an excuse.

The real problem already existed: there was a lack of water, waiting times were far too long everywhere and the sanitary facilities were no longer accessible. And probably not just for the visitors, but also for the staff.

Security personnel, stagehands, bus drivers and catering staff also left the area uncoordinated because they were not adequately cared for or communicated with.

Apparently the local police also got involved after the storm because safety conditions in the event of a storm were (obviously) not met. One person is currently missing.
