First BK shrimp shells in Oostduinkerke

During the championship, the participants have to peel as many uncalibrated gray shrimps as possible in 10 minutes. The shrimps must be peeled and thrown into a plate by the candidate himself, before the final signal of the match.

At the end of the time, a jury will check the peeled shrimp. Any shrimp that, according to the jury, has not been peeled correctly will not be counted towards the final result. If there is too much waste on the board, the peeler will be automatically excluded.

The top three will go home with a beautiful cup and a specially designed tile. A souvenir is provided for each participant.

The Belgian shrimp peelers/peelers can also participate in the World Shrimp Peeling Championship in Leffrinckoucke in France in August. To this end, the Royal Order of the Horse Fishermen entered into a partnership with the French organisation.
