Team manager Ralf Rangnick suffered their first defeat in the sixth game with the English soccer champions Manchester United.
The Red Devils lost on Monday in the Premier League against Wolverhampton Wanderers with 0: 1 (0: 0). This means that United is only seventh with 31 points after 19 games.
“We didn’t play well individually and collectively. The Wolves were our best opponent so far. We had significantly more problems today than in the previous games,” Rangnick told Sky Sports. “The game showed that we still have a lot of work to do.”
Bruno Fernandes had the greatest chance for United when he hit the crossbar after 67 minutes. On the other hand, Cristiano Ronaldo, who was appointed captain by Rangnick, was largely ineffective this time.
Manchester United are four points behind the Champions League
Veteran Joao Moutinho scored the decisive goal in the 82nd minute for the Wolves, who won for the first time in 42 years at Old Trafford.
“We went here to play football and we had a lot of chances before the break,” said Moutinho. “We had everything under control and deserved victory.”
After three wins and two draws in the first five competitive games under Rangnick, United is four points behind the Champions League places.
