Belgium’s cycling star Remco Evenepoel has apparently been brought by several thousand euros – by a game -addicted postman.
The portal “Wilerflits.nl” reports that a postman must be responsible for credit card fraud in the Brussels municipality of Anderlecht. In order to finance his gambling addiction, the messenger opened letters with credit cards and used them according to the report. Evenepoel is said to have been betrayed by 9,000 euros.
Asked for 18 months in prison
The man has to answer in several cases. The public prosecutor has requested an 18-month imprisonment, of which a large part of which is to be suspended. A judgment is expected on February 27th.
In trouble with the mail before
The ratio of the double Olympic champion Evenepoel to the post office of his home country should not be the best. The 25-year-old had only fallen in training in December when the opening door of a post bus brought him down. Evenepoel sustained fractures on the rib, the right shoulder blade and the right hand and had to reschedule his season.
