Due to the drought, the Drenthe Safety Region and municipalities are extra alert at fireworks shows. The show during the flower parade in Eelde can continue tonight, thanks to preventive measures.
The fireworks may only be lit straight up, and the fire brigade will keep the grass wet. Earlier this summer, a fireworks show in Klijndijk was not allowed to take place. The risk of fire was too great. It would take place on a camping site with tents.
Several shows are also planned in the province for September. As long as the drought continues, it will be considered per event whether it can continue.
The fireworks show in Eelde is tonight at 22:30 on the festival site.
